Alas friends I have become one of those procrastinating bloggers I said I would try not to become, but, but my computer has not been my friend for a while. We broke up shortly and finally made up and got back together. Now on to my latest endeavors! A little over a week ago I was asked to make a few batches of cupcakes for a friend who is having a baby girl. I have done a few cakes for birthdays and baby showers and as much I love cupcakes I was a little sad. I had so many ideas! Ideas don't always translate well onto cupcakes...see my dilemma. Well I put my mind to good use and came up with a satisfying creative solution. This was so much fun to do and would do it again in a heartbeat. Cupcakes are one of my favorite things after all. See my process!
Here are the pink ones.
Here are the white ones.
Lots of sugary flowers!
Sugar overload!

Art Journal and Music

I started school yesterday! I was sort of not ready to go back, but now that I started ideas started to flow in my head and I couldn't be full of more excitement. Well, one of our assignments was to start an art journal. It can be combination of writings and drawings as well. At first I was stumped, but once I started one I kept going. I drew them in red, because I love red. It's bright and always stands out. The first one here is pretty straight forward.
The second one here was inspired by something a buddy of mine said. He made me listen to this one song (which I will name later I lost the paper where I wrote it down). Then he proceeded to tell me that this song was "life changing." Well it has to be one amazing song to get that kind of reaction. Indeed it was. Then I thought there has to be a song that made me feel like that...and I thought and thought and finally came up with one. Best of You by the Foo Fighters. The song was so beautiful and the video was even better. So this is what came out of a simple conversation.
In case you're curious and can't see it that well it reads:

"You've awoken my heart & soul to something warm and inviting.

Something that was always there but had gone on hiatus.

Music tells us everything. Music woke me up & told me to be the
"Best of You." That was life changing.
For this I thank you. For this my friendship is yours."

Tada! A little art and a little poem is always good for the heart. music has always been a passion of mine and until recently I hadn't been as crazy about it as I used to be. I'm glad that it has crept back into my life with a full kick...and in case you're wondering I am listening to Death Cab for Cutie's "I will possess your heart."

I Love Balloons!!!

In particular red ones! and ever since Alan sent me over to his blog Balloon Release I've been obsessed with the idea of doing one myself. So my best friend and I set ourselves out to go get some balloons and attached a little note that explained what we were doing and to let us know if they found my balloon!! We went to Woodlawn Lake Park and let them go there, and the best part was that it was a beautiful and windy day. Here's my pictures!
I love red and I love stars so these were the best choices.
Close up.
Here I am getting ready to release them.
There goes red!
Can you see them both!!
The duckies were there too!

Overall it was sooooooo much fun and it was one of those simple things that I oh so love. In each of the notes I put a little quote by Winnie the Pooh that reads:
Like it? I did it myself a few semesters ago and is so appropriate. Enjoy!

The Best Bike Ever!

I just found out my bike got stolen!! Wahhhhhhhhhh I wanna cry. In case you're wondering it was a beautiful bike. It was a metalic baby blue Redline BMX frame, it had titanium foot pedals because I broke the plastic ones it came with. It had a transplants and Vans sticker. Ooooh my heart hurts. It's name was Dirty numbeer 2. Dirty also had 20 in tires. Sniffle, sniffle, rest in peace Dirty, rest in peace Dirty. Where
ever you are.

Dirty was originally purchased in Chino, CA. Dirty loved sunny California. It traveled the streets of East Los Angeles, Chino, and Santa Monica beaches. It rode the ramps of Hollywood Extreme sports park, where it threw me off the half pipe many a times. It was a bonding form for my sister and I. Together we used to ride the lazy hot summer afternoons and those were the best of times. Dirty wasn't just a bike to me, it was my friend. It was a symbol and memory of my youth. The memories will never be replaced. I miss you Dirty.

This is closest picture I could find of what Dirty sort of looked like.
